I will attempt a self-supported circumnavigation of Iceland in May 2026, carrying a tent and sleeping bag in my backpack. The route follows the Ring Road, and I will run more than 1,400 kilometers, bypassing three tunnels along the way.
I will start on May 2 in Reykjavik. From there, I will begin my official Ring Road loop on May 3, running clockwise. I will work with a sports physician to collect data for sports medical research using my watch and a glucose monitor.

A new dream I am trying to realize in memory of my father. As an EU Climate Pact Ambassador, I hope my circumnavigation of Iceland will also be a statement about the beauty of nature.
Kind regards,
Jan Fokke
